John doesn’t simply know how a piece was made. He knows the forest it came from, the tree it once was, and every decision that brought it into the home.
The work begins on owner John Nibert’s farm, among trees he has tended for decades.
John brings decades of hands-on experience and a master’s degree in wood science to every stage of the process.
Through selective harvesting, he works primarily with mature, damaged or fallen timber, using each one as fully as possible and encouraging continued regeneration.
The farm is more than the source of much of John’s material. It is home to the sawmill, kiln and workshop, allowing him to oversee the wood from harvest through fabrication. Keeping the process in one place gives him intimate knowledge of each board and exceptional control over its quality, stability and final character.

Responsibly sourced from his forest, milled and kiln-dried on the property, then expertly built onsite in his state-of-the-art workshop, this tree passed through John’s hands at every stage of its transformation.
By overseeing the wood from harvest through milling, drying and fabrication, John maintains exceptional control over its quality, stability and final character.
